Many esoteric, philosophical, spiritual and even scientific doctrines say we have the power to manifest what we wish for, to create our destiny. So, why so many people feel skeptical about it and disappointed that they are not succeeding in creating what they want?
I believe it is true that we do have such power, but this must be understood in its proper context.
Many factors influence what and how we create. To begin with, we are not alone in the creative process. Humans are gregarious beings. Our creative thoughts and feelings interact with those of others around us, making us co-creators (not autonomous creators) of the outcomes in our lives. This interaction is relatively independent of physical distance. It is primarily based on an energetic and emotional phenomenon.
If it were not so, the world would be chaotic, with many independent actual creations bumping into each other. This turmoil may even exist in the more subtle levels of life, but when it comes to manifestation in the ordinarily perceptible world, what is perceived is the final outcome, the sum total of all the energetic creative powers set in motion. That is how we all come to perceive the same material “reality”.
The conflict among diverging creative thoughts and emotions stemming from different people may also occur within each individual. How often do we notice that our mind tells us to act one way and the heart says something different?
We sometimes have conscious desires that are questioned and opposed at some unconscious levels. Suppose that a person consciously wants to be hired for a great job and applies for it. But at an unconscious level, the person feels fearful of taking the responsibilities of that position, fearful of failing at it. It is possible that everything this person will notice is some anxiety, which will be attributed to the uncertainty of the hiring process. But these conflicting feelings at different levels of conscience will certainly create opposing currents that will affect the manifestation of the conscious desire, not to mention the other candidates’ feelings about the same process.
Another relevant factor is that our intentions and motivations to create something are more important than what we want to create. If our motivations, however pure and noble at a conscious level, are tainted with impure feelings (like pride, envy, revenge, etc.) the creative process will be undermined. The tainting of our motives will give rise to opposing currents in our psyche that will dampen our creative power.
If we can eliminate or at least minimize the opposing currents generated by conflicts of feelings, and focus our creative power in a coherent way, we will greatly increase our ability to manifest what we consciously desire. The Pathwork is a powerful and practical method of self-knowledge and self-transformation that can be very instrumental in achieving the harmony and coherence of our thoughts, feelings and motivations, thus increasing our chances of success in creating what we desire.
