Here are some questions for your reflection. Take notes of your insights as you consider them.
♦ Consider a goal that you wish and strive to accomplish in your life. Do you feel that the opposite (not achieving your goal) would make you frustrated and unhappy?
♦ Can you identify goals that you have pursued in your life and that you have at times achieved, but they seemed to vanish away with time, so that you had to reconquer them?
♦ Do you fear that you may not be able to achieve some of your desired goals in your lifetime?
♦ Do you feel a difference between areas of your life (work; family; friends; etc) with respect to the ease or difficulty to achieve your goals in those areas? What about the level of yearning or anxiety experienced in pursuing envisioned goals in each of those areas?
♦ Explore your motivations in pursuing your goals in life. How balanced are your motivations to achieve goals, in terms of the direct benefits of those achievements, versus the avoidance of the adverse results of not achieving them? (For example, for a goal of reaching a certain level of income, what could be the balance between the motivations to enjoy a prosperous life and those intended to avoid the limitations of a life with low income?)
