Exercise 4-b: On conflicting desires and pleasure

<- To Work Program

In the previous exercise you reflected on some proposed questions. Did you identify one or more situations, either in yourself or in others, where the presence of conflicting desires were holding up the full realization of positive desires? Was the conflict resolved?

Do you know of any situations in which physical pain was overcome by the identification of opposing currents deriving from conflicting desires?

Did you ever feel that you were deriving negative pleasure from observing other people’s struggle between opposing desires? Did you feel superior for being more knowledgeable and capable of observing that process in action?
