Review the lists of personality traits of your parents. You did these lists in the first week of this module, as part of an exercise called Parental Traits.
Compare the personality traits (positive and negative) of your parents with those of people you whom you relate to in today’s life, as an adult. Think of your spouse or current love partner (or a recent one), your boss, a business partner, some major clients, etc.
Are there any similarities between the personalities of your parents and those of some of the people whom you partner with in your adult life?
If there are similarities, especially if you have issues with these people, could it be that you felt attracted to them as an unconscious way to recreate analogous circumstances to those of your childhood, in an attempt to try and see if this time you will succeed in getting what you long for and that was denied to you as a child? This could be love, understanding, attention, recognition, care, support, acceptance, protection, … whatever.
